We’re back again with even more tracks from bands just waiting to be your new favourite. Give this a read, give the tracks a listen and give our playlists a follow.
Call Me Karizma – Monster (Under My Bed)
Smashing its way to the top of today’s Singles Only is Call Me Karizma‘s ‘Monster (Under My Bed). If you’re after a run of the mill rock track then you’re looking in the wrong place. This is raw around the edges, balls-out modern rock track that, at just over 2 minutes leaves you just wanting to hear more. The opening 20 seconds of soft vocals do not prepare you for what is to come as the track shifts seamlessly, never staying the same for long, fusing genres along the way.
Black Leather Jacket – Village People
Heading to Belgium next we have some bouncey, fuzzy and fun garage rock. ‘Village People’ may evoke slightly different thoughts in the UK to those across the channel but luckily this isn’t one of those weird ass covers that doesn’t quite work. This is a catchy 2-minute rock track that would get even the most staunch rocker into the mosh pit shouting ‘wo-oah’ over and over. This here is a drinking song through and through.
Dirty Dirty – Emotional Whatever Things
When you create a song that sounds like it could be from any of the past 5 decades you’re either doing something very wrong or very right. Dirty Dirty are luckily doing the latter and with ‘Emotional Whatever Things’ absolutely nailing the high-intensity, almost pandemonic nature of garage rock. The bass driven track features highly punk-inspired vocals and ventures from a modern fuzz-rock style to classic metal inspired in such a small period of time. This is a statement of a song and a great intro to a band with huge potential.
Oceanwires – Fuel + Reasons
Moving on to Oceanwires and we’ve hit a band that sound like they’ve gone to the depths of indie-rock and then come back to be a fully-fledged rock band after all. Vocally you can hear the song being played during Channel 4 ‘reality tv’ shows featuring posh kids their not at all manufactured ‘issues’. Luckily ‘Fuel + Reasons’ has more depth to it than any of those caricatures put together. This is a rock song through and through that pulls inspiration from modern rock through to 80s pop. An interesting ride throughout.
Blood Capsules – French Wine Saturday Night
Slowing things down a little to close us off we have Blood Capsules and their three-minute indie-rock romp. Despite the song coming across as indie by the numbers, there is a bit more to the track if you’re willing to invest. The layering of the guitars means that even if you start to drift off with the track on you’re still caught up in the web that the track has woven around you. This one can leave a lasting impression.
