987491The Pearl Harts – Glitter and Spit

Release Date: 22nd February 2018

Label: Double Bang Records

The Pearl Harts are an all female rock duo, made up of Kirsty on lead vocals and guitar and Sara on drums and vocals, based in London. Their debut album, containing their first single, Hit The Bottle, was released last week.

The album kicks off with Black Blood, a catchy and compelling track featuring an instrumental intro and the first peak at Kirsty’s vocal style. Track 2, Go Hard is another captivating song with a set of strong and dramatic vocals and a repetitive beat. The Rush brings us more heavy instrumentals and a nice catchy sound throughout.

Track 4, Lara, is a perfect mix of powerful vocals and memorable cheerleader chants in the background. This track can definitely get you dancing, or at least shuffling your feet. The music video, which you can watch below, fits perfectly with the song itself.

The ending of this song takes us into Bonfires, which includes a nice bass intro, further sturdy vocals and deep and heavy instrumentals. Track 6 is Lost In Time, featuring softer vocals and smoother instrumentals. This song is quite laidback in comparison with the rest of the album.

The Chief, Track 7, is an upbeat tune and truly shows the talent of the band with Kirsty’s unusual voice and Sara’s use of background instruments. The band’s first single and eight track on the album, Skeleton Made Of Diamonds is yet another snappy song which features heavier instrumentals again. Hit The Bottle also shows us a great use of different instrumental style. You can check out the music video for this single via the link below.

Track 10, Bless You, contains a catchy chorus and a melody that combines perfectly with the vocal style of the band. The style of vocals in this track definitely gives off some Juliet Simms vibes. Living’s Done gives us the best of the Pearl Harts’ gritty vocal style that we see throughout the album. The album’s closing track is the unforgettable Hurt, bringing softer instrumentals which get heavier throughout and the last taste of the band’s powerful vocals.

The Pearl Harts are a rock duo with clearly a crazy amount of talent, and Glitter and Spit is only the beginning of what they have to offer. The band did not disappoint with this exciting debut album and leaves listeners everywhere, including myself, excited for what’s yet to come.
